A man in the audience stood up and told McCain he’s “scared” of an Obama presidency and who he’d select for the Supreme Court.
“I have to tell you. Sen. Obama is a decent person and a person you don’t have to be scared of as president of the United States,”
One of the main reasons given here on FR all the time for why McCain must win.....because of the type of Supreme Court Justices Obama would nominate. A man in the audience stands up and echos this very same concern and McCain responds the way he did????
He hasn’t even been elected and is already reaching across the aisle to Democrats and smacking down his supporters. Maybe he could have answered with a statement such as.....Obama’s own words show us that he will nominate activist judges that legislate from the bench”. Then go on to site what Obama said the other day about how the next Supreme Court Justice should be able to empathize with what it’s like to be a young, unwed mother, or gay, etc.
McCain will not nominate a conservative judge. Even Ronald Reagan nominated Kennedy who votes in favor of abortion rights, voted against the congressional law banning virtual child pornography, and takes a strong stance in favor of expanding Constitutional rights to cover sexual orientation. Pres. Bush the elder nominated Souter for heaven’s sakes.
You never know. McCain's understanding of the Constitution is so bad that we may get a decent SCOTUS nominee purely by accident.
