Voddie Bachham is solid!....Press on!
..I've been waking up early....anywhere from 3AM to 5AM....
..sometimes in tears over our nation, over the loss...
..Early morning is a sweet time for prayer too.
We can all do something by trying to inspire and awaken others and even though I’m required to just post as a ‘vanity’, I will continue and I hope you and others do the same.
You apparently haven't been keeping up with current events...
I do that every day and have for years. But if you read the old testament very much you will see that after many warnings to a nation and/or it's rulers, God's patience wears out and no amount of repentance or pleading will hold back His chastisement on an unGodly nation that has ignored years of His warnings. The northern Israeli kingdom was the first to be severely chastened after about 2 centuries of blatant corruption and demon worship by an exile that is only recently being ended in a very small degree, but eventually the southern kingdom fell also because of it's recurring gross periods of disobedience to God's laws.
I am afraid that America has now also passed that point of no return with it's rejection of God's laws and 50 million innocent unborn human beings legally slaughtered in 3-1/2 decades plus every form of perverted immorality embraced and celebrated by a society that adulates the debauched stars of Hollywood and the so-called rap and rock "music" industry, and a terrible judgment is coming our way.
I'm old and normally expected by younger people to see the brave new America in that critical manner, but I am seeing a great many much younger Americans who have come to believe pretty much as I do.
I have observed that the left’s ideology not only breaks all 10 commandments, but revels in doing so, and revels in causing others to do so.
Do you have an OT example of God putting a tyrant over the Israelites as chastisement for disobedience? I was thinking Saul, but I couldn’t find a specific reference that he was put there as chastisement or punishment.
I am by no stretch of the truth a bible scholar, far from it, but I have bookmarked quite a few websites that are handy for that kind of thing so I'll see what I can find when I have a bit more time. Right now my better half is insisting I go to the basement and find a few items for her in all that impenetrable mess down there. If you have a wife and a basement you probably know what I'm talking about. (=:
Pharaoh & Nebuchadnezzar.
Yes he is. And the homeschool movement along with an FIC movement is training up those to be ready.
I find it interesting that it is not the traditional Sunday School program that is having the greater influence as Voddie brought up in the SBC's Texas Convention in 2006. "Ever-Loving Truth" and "Family Driven Faith" are spot on in the assessment and cure. I have met Voddie and corresponded with him through email a few times, and he is as real as it gets.
Also along that path is Brett and Alex Harris with the "Do Hard Things" concept drawn from their "Rebelution: Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations". Look for the kids to do a tour starting this spring. Saw them in Des Moines and it changed my kids life.
If Obama wins, then I will be more apt to take action. As it stands, there are still forces at play that could avert the potential disaster...
Voddie Baucham....(sorry, I misspelled his name the first time)
Actually, there are many references in the Old Testament where God's patience ...and God IS slow to anger...runs out....
I hope and pray for mercy....I would love Sarah Palin to be used for such a time as this....would delight seeing her beautiful family happily settled in the Vice Presidential home....
..but God may only be allowing her this 'short time' to point the way to Him....
..We truly don't deserve mercy.....as you say, 50 million souls cry out for justice....
..God has been eliminated from the marketplace, the schools, and mocked elsewhere....
Oh...but I still pray for mercy.
Last night two thoughts came while I was trying to fall asleep....
...David praying that his son (by Bathsheba) would live, knowing full well he brought on God's anger by his sins...
..and then David's acceptance when that prayer wasn't answered the way he wanted.
And then, incongruously & fearfully, I had this other scene...
..the Titanic..sinking, and the gentle preist comforting the frightened people who were left to go down with the ship....
..he stayed with them, encouraging....blessing...praying until the end.
Maybe Sarah will hold the light of Christ before us, speaking the truth in love, until our once great nation sinks out of sight.
My heart is heavy this morning....but I will do my part....
..I am heading out soon to Republican headquarters to join others for a precinct walk, handing out flyers, wearing my red/white & blue...and I will smile and do it cheerfully...
..and leave the results to God....
He is sovereign!
Might be sooner than that. Have you noticed how ammo prices have gone up in the past couple of years?
A liberal Commie and an Islamic extremist together on a Freeman = Islamic extremist rule.
I'm sure you will, and don't let the dismal political outlook make you heart heavy, God is sovereign as you say and His will is perfect even though it may hurt sometimes when we can't see the end result of His workings in complicated matters such as our nation's destiny. We only see America through a narrow window of time, but he sees America from an eternal perspective.
If God gives America another chance, it's Godly, praying American people like you who will be the cause of Him extending His patience. I don't think we can count on any definite length of time that He will tolerate our disobedience before allowing America to come under judgment, but He gave ancient Israel and Judah chance after chance to return to obeying His laws. Just pray and trust Him, all great powerful nations will eventually fall, but Christ's body on earth, we Christians, will prevail over all that Satan can bring against us.
However this election turns out keep looking up. For our God is sovereign over all, and His will for us is totally for our good. Even though we may be unable to see that from where we are now, one day we will look back and see that it was.
Judah and it's rulers went through alternating periods of unbelieving people and evil kings, and periods of Godly kings such as Hezikiah and Josiah ruling a nation of mostly God fearing people. But I don't think that it would be entirely correct to say that either of those kingdoms were ruled by evil kings as punishment for the peoples' sins.
Another poster cited Nebuchadnezzar and Pharaoh as examples of kings who were a punishment for Israel's disobedience. And although it's true that those gentile kings inflicted severe punishment on the Israelites under their authority, they were not kings of Israel in the sense that I think you were asking about.
Maybe some learned bible scholar will read this thread and answer your question, but I don't even begin to qualify for that description.
We had a lovely couple hours going from house to house...very in cinc with each other... and guess what...
..we discovered we're both FReepers!...he joined in '98, and I in '99.
We had never met each other till today!
Providence!!
PROVIDENCE!
You meant predestination I’m sure!
