Read Moussanni and Belloc on the origins of Mohammadism and the biography of Mohammed. Serge Trifkovic's The Sword of the Prophet is enlightening also.
It's true that Mohammed sought refuge among the Jews and Christians in Medina when he was exiled from Mecca but later disdained their hospitality and betrayed them as he did to the Meccans upon his return there. There are connections but they are heretical and false.
