Could any of this be because of Obama’s position in the polls?

Could be due to recent things happening with North Korea and US shipping weapons to FREE CHINA.

I fear this crisis is much worse than any damage 0bama could have done to the economy with his Newer Deal. It would seem we are (more than) a little screwed.

"Could any of this be because of Obama’s position in the polls?"

Yes. And don't forget all of the other all-important celebrities--political and otherwise--and our hormonal feelings about each of them. Our vainglory matters the most, and appearances are everything.

Enjoy the ride. ;-)

Hanna, the world at large seems to like Obama, so his possible victory wouldn't be expected to raise anxiety internationally. Remember that in the real world, "Capitalists" like government involvement because it reduces uncertainty and makes it easier to mitigate risk.

This selloff is an international phenomenon and was triggered by excesses of the 'financiers,' as they used to call them. Their chickens are coming home to roost on all of us.

It’s the unwinding of a global credit bubble. In which American toxic mortgages and derivatives played a role. That stuff was sold to everybody.

No.

This has nothing to do with the political world, and moreover, every time a politician opens his mouth (especially Bush) it gets worse. People in the financial world wish that the politicians, especially Bush, would STFU and disappear, because they’re proving themselves to be idiots.

No. Obama and McCain might as well be two spotted weevils crawling across old rice husks at this point.
