That's the kind of stuff that stinks. KWIM?

YES! We're dealing with this right now. While cutting a position from the city payroll, our Admin assistant got a HUGE job offer. She handles so much we'd crash and burn and ultimately have to hire two people to keep up with all she does. She's worth twice what she makes, so we gave her a salaried position with a slight increase in pay just to keep her. Is that fair? The electric dept guy that lost his job doesn't think so. Is it in the best interest of the City?

What do you think?

I think I would choose to close the library and keep the electrical grid up and running.

You don't want to ask me that question. LOL I was an Admin Assist and while I'm sure she appreciates the offer, as a citizen, I'm more concerned about my lights staying on than the Council keeping their Admin Asst.

You can make your own copies, handle your own schedules, make your own coffee, order your own office supplies, type your own memos, answer your telephones/voicemail, etc.

If given the choice...that's what I'd pick.

I feel for ya, though. It sounds like your citizens want more services than they can afford. Maybe they should hold a fundraiser. :D Good luck!
