Be better to just sell the stocks, bonds, and/or mutual funds and invest in CDs. I did this last week, but it still wasn't soon enough. I still lost 17% since the peak - granted some of that was unrealized gain, but not all.
Putting the present aside for now, this does not bode well for boomers going to retire in the next 10-15 years. I don't know if they can makeup their losses in time. And then with SS having to be cut (or taxes on the working increased - or both), it won't be pretty.
