They’ll just bum a cigarette as Mister Obama has been doing on the campaign trail. Reporters are now starting to tell of how he stinks of tobacco.

When we were young experimenting teenagers, we'd just go into the Post Office lobby and buy 'em out of the vending machine on Saturday....the place was open 24/7 for box access, so we didn't even have to sneak.

Nowadays, I don't think I've even seen a cigarette machine in a long time.

What more can they do, they are forced by law to check id’s and smokes kept behind the counter so you have to be served them since mature adults cannot have simple access to a legal product.

We're about to turn our country over to a bunch of commie freaks and people are worried about kids getting their hands on some smokes.

Whistling past the graveyard ...

Yes, but you can buy condoms in the vending machines.

It’s good to see they’re turning their attention away from energy exploration and towards useful things like making it easier for kids to acquire cocaine than cigarettes.

Of course Shell wants to stop cigarette sales to minors. They make “X” on a pack of cigarettes and run the risk of a fine, but Corporate probably makes “2X” if they put the same amount of money in their gas tank, which they don’t because cigarettes are so expensive.

You can still find them in some bars where you have to be 21 to get in.

As I understand it a lot of "adult entertainment" establishments have them.

Or so I've been told.

'Course I'm in California, where you can't smoke in bars or clubs or just about anyplace...

I just remembered; there's a machine at the local Injun Casino though. Six bucks a pack; so much for cheap reservation smokes.

They're still able to get them somewhere or rip them off their parents. Just the other day a couple 7th graders came into my room to get their classwork. When I asked what they'd done to get detention they were all embarrassed to admit they'd been smokin’ in the boys’ room. There were also some middle school girls who'd also been caught smoking somewhere on campus.

Interestingly, kids can buy rolling papers but not tobacco. And while I'm on the subject, rolling papers have been used forever to clean band instrument key pads. However, since it's a bad, bad thing to have Zig Zag papers at school, band kids now have to spend twice as much or more on the same papers specifically labeled “pad cleaning papers”. Ok, off my soap box.

Ouch!

Do they have gold foil filters or something?

I'm paying about $28 a carton here in eastern NC.

I buy my gas at Shell stations, and there are several in my area. They are scared $#!tle$$ about selling any form of tobacco to minors. There are fines and penalties. The smoking nazis send out sting snitches to try to buy cigarettes and chew. It doesn’t matter in California whether the buyer is under age or not. The law is that they have to check the ID to make the sale. They always are asking for ID’s.

It is not a policy of any legitimate business to sell tobacco products to minors. I doubt that Shell has any major impact a all on the market for any kind of smokes. I wonder why no one mentions the fact that the kids these days really like the small cigars like swisher sweets and optimo in various fruit flavors. There are liquor stores run by East Asian immigrants that sell a lot more smokes than Shell does.

Vermont’s Attorney General is grandstanding and Shell is a deep pocket and easy target. I don’t know of any corporation that wouldn’t make such an agreement in half a heartbeat to keep from being reamed up the yinyang by some zealous public official who wants to move up the political food chain.
