Despite pledges by President George W. Bush and American intelligence officials to the contrary, hundreds of US citizens overseas have been eavesdropped on as they called friends and family back home, according to two former military intercept operators who worked at the giant National Security Agency (NSA) center in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
"These were just really everyday, average, ordinary Americans who happened to be in the Middle East, in our area of intercept and happened to be making these phone calls on satellite phones," said Adrienne Kinne, a 31-year old US Army Reserves Arab linguist assigned to a special military program at the NSA's Back Hall at Fort Gordon from November 2001 to 2003.
Kinne described the contents of the calls as "personal, private things with Americans who are not in any way, shape or form associated with anything to do with terrorism."...
Faulk says he and others in his section of the NSA facility at Fort Gordon routinely shared salacious or tantalizing phone calls that had been intercepted, alerting office mates to certain time codes of "cuts" that were available on each operator's computer.
"Hey, check this out," Faulk says he would be told, "there's good phone sex or there's some pillow talk, pull up this call, it's really funny, go check it out. It would be some colonel making pillow talk and we would say, 'Wow, this was crazy'," Faulk told ABC News....

Oh - did they recall Brian Ross from Alaska once he hit 50 dead ends trying to find Palin dirt?
My BS meter is pegged at full alert.
And here comes the deflection...
McCain must be going to do something out of the ordinary. These kinds of stories are only run out when something damaging is let loose into the wild.
Know what I mean?
No one "just happens to be in the Middle East", you're there for a reason. It could be business, visiting family, passing through to somewhere else, or up to no good. There are few places in the Middle East one goes or even can go for vacation/entertainment.
According to Hot Air, there’s more to the story:
“Update II: Hmm. It looks like ABC didnt do enough research on one of its sources. Adrienne Kinne is also on the board of directors of Iraq Veterans Against the War, a fact ABC doesnt mention in its piece. Faulk now works for the Metro Spirit as a reporter and doesnt appear to have joined any organized political opposition to the war, but has spoken out against it.
Does that make them not credible? Not necessarily, especially with Faulk. They may have come to oppose the war based on these very experiences. However, ABC certainly should have told its readers and viewers about Kinnes association with IVAW.”

This is simply an incredibly dense statement:
“These were just really everyday, average, ordinary Americans who happened to be in the Middle East, in our area of intercept and happened to be making these phone calls on satellite phones,” said Adrienne Kinne, a 31-year old US Army Reserves Arab linguist assigned to a special military program at the NSA’s Back Hall at Fort Gordon from November 2001 to 2003.”
Just happened to be in the Middle East, just happened to be using Sat Phones..
Well...duuhhh...who else should the NSA be monitoring if not these folks?
OK, that does it. Let’s shut down NSA. Gentlemen don’t open other gentlemen’s mail. I would rather have a 1,000 9/11s than have someone listening in to the private calls of an American in the Middle East—not.
Brig time, maybe - if the perps weren’t Clinton holdouts and fifth columnists for The One (piss be unto him)...
Just average ordinary, Arab Speaking americans, in the middle east, calling back to their families in the US on SAT phones. Speaking in Arabic because we all know that is the native and national language of the majority of the United States...or at least its scheduled to be in Obama’s second term./sarc
I ain’t going to his site.
However, the GayRadar meters are ringing off their hooks:

The so called listening happened when so called Americans were overseas not in America.
However, serious brig time for anyone, who talked to a left wing reporter about how it was done would be indicated.
This is why I’ve never supported this kind of thing. If all branches of government go dem, would you like them to have this power?
So US military officers stationed in the Middle East are relegated to "so called Americans," in your book?
They just ignore they law.
‘So US military officers stationed in the Middle East are relegated to “so called Americans,” in your book?’
Can you explain your reply, I don’t understand where you are coming from:
“”These were just really everyday, average, ordinary Americans who happened to be in the Middle East, in our area of intercept and happened to be making these phone calls on satellite phones,” said Adrienne Kinne, a 31-year old US Army Reserves Arab linguist.”
If the dems come to power and I am in the meddle east they are welcome to enjoy my pillow talk if it means protecting my country.
“Kinne described the contents of the calls as “personal, private things with Americans who are not in any way, shape or form associated with anything to do with terrorism.”...
If true, this nonsense needs to be stopped and the perps punished. After all, how is this snooping any different than the TN idiot who hacked into Palin’s e-mail account??
