If soccer is safe you're not trying hard enough.
Suburban Dem soccer moms ignore the dangers of soccer except to demand more protective equipment. Many of their boys would never be allowed to participate in “brute” sports such as football, wrestling, boxing and hockey.
In other words, they steer their boys away from activities that expose them to “manly men”.
One mom explained to me why she would never allow her son to play football (although he wanted to, desperately): She didn’t want him to be involved in activities that would “pigeon hole” him (as a male). She said he could do any activity open to boys and girls (like art and soccer), but that she did not want him around groups that “celebrate testosterone”.
