Why do I feel like a chump for being six months ahead on my mortgage payments?

Not sure about Illinois, but in Indiana, sheriffs get a huge amount of the money recovered in back taxes when houses are sold after foreclosure. It’s a very lucrative position, which is why those political races draw BIG spending.
Frank Anderson in Indy (Marion County) made over $360,000 per year.

He’d foreclose in an instant if the lien holder was donating to his campaign.

I didn’t know a sheriff had a choice. I guess what he’s saying is he’s just not going to serve the eviction notices.

It’s the banks’ fault? Someone didn’t make a house payment and it’s the banks’ fault?

What about some folks been coveting the sheriff’s house and the bank wouldn’t give them the money to buy it?
Go take it? ‘bout time maybe... I’m just sayin...

(Zimbabwean law may apply here, refer to Justice Anthony Kennedy for opinion...)

They do it every day.

Since when are Sheriff’s running anything but the jails?

In Florida, as in many states, the sheriff has the responsibility of evictions in foreclosures and non payment of rents and repossessions of cars. Not in MA?.....

So does this mean that the judge orders the foreclosure and the sheriff will not enforce the order? What about your oath of office??

It’s the banks’ fault? Someone didn’t make a house payment and it’s the banks’ fault?

Just asking, what if it is the home owner who didn’t make the morotgage payment, but the occupant of the home is the renter/leasee who HAS MADE THEIR MONTHLY PAYMENTS?

Should the renter/occupant be put on the street because the homeowner can’t pay the bank?

“COOK COUNTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“Chicagoland, the city and the surrounding Cook County area, has been one of the areas hardest hit by the intersection of gangs and mortgage fraud.

Consider the Black Disciples gang: Some of its members were involved in a case of mortgage fraud a couple of years ago. The price tag for that case alone: $70 million.

We had information from the FBI about Vice Lords [another Chicago-area gang] that there was perhaps $80 million in fraudulent mortgage activity,” Wagner says.”
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=13865759

Mentioning this will be considered RACIST, I’m sure....

Banks should close soon there.

Ironically, conventional mortgages will still be available. It's the sub-prime / high risk loans that'll be tough to come by, in light of this sheriff preventing lenders from claiming collateral to which they're entitled.

I doubt this will last long... but it only needs to be a news item for a few weeks.
