Pinch Sulzberger's main qualification for running the New York Times seems to be living through birth.

Sometimes certain people are simply destined to do monumental things. Like Pinch.

He won the sperm lottery at birth.
He will has lost his family fortune soon.
I bet soon that they will ask for a bailout soon.
Claiming that newspapers are vital for a free society even though that is not what they write in the worst paper in the country.

Another thing not mentioned, is that the Times has adopted the "strategy" of hiring writers from alternative weeklies in an attempt to boost its street cred.
These writers are often burned-out rehab types who are smart but have personal issues, and are very leftist and partisan.
Thus the smash-mouth tactics at the Times over the last few years have increased even more than usual.

Even as bad as I feel today, there is the possibility of a silver lining at seeing that headline.

.....Pinch Sulzberger’s main qualification....
I would argue that he is like Bill Clinton, Anita Hill, Al gore, Barack Obama. He was groomed from a very early age to take the job. He was carefully mentored to take on the responsibility. He was schooled at the feet of ideologues.
The problem is that he was just not up to the job.

And that dark economic cloud looming on the Times horizon has moved ever closer. Once those dividends decrease drastically, as they inevitably will, the party will be over for the Sulzberger family. Conservatives would like to think that liberal Times bias will be the reason for that newspaper's eventual downfall but don't discount the factor of Sulzberger stupidity as an important cause of its failure. IMHO, Sulzberger stupidity is also the cause of the liberal Times bias, so it is impossible to separate one from the other.

The NYT Op Ed page writers perfectly reflect pinch’s inbred stupidity.
I hope the NYT shrivels slowly. I want to watch them suffer.

The NYT Op Ed page writers perfectly reflect pinchs inbred stupidity. Krugman, Rich, Dowd, Friedman - they're all simply unreadable. Even back in the day when I was a young liberal with a skull-full of mush, there was a little voice in my head saying this Anthony Lewis, I can't understand what point he is trying to make....
Just compare them stylistically to say, Mark Steyn. Steyn's writings I can't get enough of, his puns and turns of phrase are astounding, and he covers everything from entertainment to politics. But The Times staff all spout the party line(s) so there they are.
