Dick Morris should try to be a bit more careful about names and facts. He writes: "Barack Obama should have run screaming at the sight of William Ayers and his wife, Bernadette Dohrn." As it happens, Ayers' wife is named Bernadine, not Bernadette (Morris, being the age he is, was probably thinking of the lovely and talented Bernadette Peters). And earlier this evening on "Hannity & Colmes", Morris mistakenly identified Ayers' wife as Kathy Boudin. But Boudin is the Weather Underground domestic terrorist who spent 22 years in prison for the 1981 Brinks robbery.

Such things are easy to check these days, Dick, and tripping on the small pebbles calls into doubt your sure-footedness on the boulders.

I heard those two mistakes tonight also, snarks. He really threw me on the Boudin mix-up.

I understand what you are saying, because this does give ammunition to those who not only know and understand, but do not care about this stuff.

However, it can also be easily pointed out to those who object to this mishandling of information that in this case, it is the equivalent of attacking the spelling or grammar of someone who makes a point.

Just because someone may mangle his birthdate or misspell Hitler’s name does not change who he was and what he did. (I think I avoided having Godwin’s law invoked by stating it in this context...:)

And so it is with Barack Obama.

In the interests of accuracy, I’ll correct my own correction of Dick Morris: apparently, it’s ‘Bernardine Dohrn’, not ‘Bernadine Dohrn’. I, too, was distracted by the lovely and talented Bernadette Peters when I wrote my earlier comment!
