Major Garret: Obama plans to save 90 billion a year by not spending it in Iraq, so Obama plans to abandn Iraq. So much for the “reasonable” withdrawal.
I noticed how much more eloquent Mitt Romney is when talking about the economy than McCain is. McCain didn’t give Romney a shout-out when talking about a prospective Treasury Secretary — instead McCain mention Democrat Warren Buffett and Meg Whitman, who nobody knows much about.
I doubt if this debate changes many minds— what’s important now is the job situation and the stock market . . which McCain has little control over.
One thing that really irks me is Obama’s constant harping on the $79 billion that Iraq supposedly has as a surplus. (Obviously, it’s evil, because it’s oil money.) Talk about playing the “class envy” card! I’d love to say this to his face:
Look, Obama, you are either a nitwit or irresponsible beyond belief. Regardless of whether or not it was a good idea, we (the U.S.), first through sanctions, and later through the war, broke “it”. (”It” being Iraq’s ability to self-govern, defend itself from Iran, etc.) It is OUR responsibility to do everything we can to fix it. That responsibility ends only when we are successful in that effort, or: The Iraqis spit in our face, or; The Iraqis demand free health care from us!
