I have been a McCain supporter since I first joined FR back in ‘98 (more than 10 years now). But I won't be watching the debate tonight. I can't! Because even if John scores the biggest k.o. of his political career, I don't see how he wins after eight solid years of missed opportunity and general failure by George Walker Bush—who, IMO, has eclipsed Bill Clinton as the second worst president of my lifetime and is only slightly above Jimmy Carter for the dubious bottom honor.
I so wished that John McCain would have been the GOP choice in 2000 as I believe with every fiber of my being that we'd be in a much better position all the way around and I so regret my votes for GWB because I'd much rather have either Gore or Kerry to blame for the current mess we're in today. Sorry to sound so depressed, but that's just the way I feel about this election.

It's The Belmont Stakes and McCain is our Seabiscuit and we have to ride him hard all the way.

Right on, brother! George W Bush "missed" the opportunity and "failed" to let more demon-possessed Islamo-fanatics incinerate another 3,000 or so of our fellow citizens. What a bum!

Sorry to disagree, but if McCain loses this election he has only himself and his advisors to blame. Granted, Bush didn’t exactly make it easy, but still, 0bama should be easily beatable by a strong Rep. McCain’s penchant for “bipartisanship” and his antics on immigration have hurt him, as has his apparent reluctance to attack 0bama’s weaknesses. Perhaps tonight he’ll change his approach. I hope so for the sake of America.
