PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08
Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3
While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

bambi is debating a textbook knowledge type of debate. McCain is the real deal. Big difference. He speaks from experience.

Well I don’t see it moving the masses so to speak. If you like style over substance, you go for Obama. If you are about substance over style, you’ll gravitate to McCain.
Maybe we might be splitting the Independents to one camp or the other tonite, but I think that’s the best we can hope for.

I think McCain has already won.
I disagree - this format has not favored McCain as much as I thought it would - McCain comes across as clunky at times - not as stuttery as Osama, but just not smooth. McCain keeps repeating a few phrases, and like in Palin's debate, it comes across as silly once you use it too much (not just the "my friend" bits either although those sound funny now - if you were playing one of the debate drinking games, you'd be drunk by now).
That said, McCain can still win if he hammers Obama with the economy and with taxes. McCain has got to drive it home that this election is about the economy and about taxes, and if he doesn't, undecideds are going to vote with their wallets and vote based on what they see the markets doing.

You’re right, and I think the more Obama talks about terrorism he’s showing how stupid he is about it, going after and killing terrorist in “Pakistan”! How will troops crossing into Pakistan and go into the mountains?
To: manapua
I smell a big *Pakistan* smackdown coming from McCain.
Obama is CLUELESS.

Really, because with your attitude I doubt you’re doing the McCain campaign much good.
