I think Obama is of the generation that doesn’t see experience as important—feeeeeeeelings, and “having your heart in the right place” trump competence.
...which is almost like saying “the ends justify the means”.....
I don’t consider him incompetent, but I do see him as a puppet.
And yes, you’re right - it’s the “generation” that is seeing him all warm and cuddly -like. I’m so glad I grew out of that. I have some friends that didn’t.
