That’s crazy then. I just assumed and wrongly it appears that a background check would be standard procedure. Again I think it comes down to the fact there isn’t any precedence for this as no prior candidate for president raised the type of citizenship alarms as this one is doing.

Obama is unprecedented!
And is has nothing to do with race!
Citizenship issue aside, we have never had a candidate for the highest office in the land who has so few actual ties to this country!
We have a major political party (Democrats) that is so dysfunctional that legitimate long term practitioners of the Democrat party can't get the nomination. (By legitimate Lieberman, Biden, Richardson had no traction with the rank & file! I don't want them as President, since I don't believe in Democrat political philosophy, but they are not so pontentiall destructive to our system of government as Obama!) Also we have a significant part of the electorate that is so irresponsible with the voting franchise that they don't care about Obama being a citizen or anything else.
