You said (to the formerly banned poster) — “I’m wondering, however, if you would like to take this opportunity retract some of the statements you made about FR on You Tube with your rather broad brush.”

There’s no need for him to retract those comments, because they sounded pretty accurate and true — especially having to do with those who ended up banning him in the first place (and thus making all the other FReepers look like kooks for being part of that fiasco — by “association” unfortunately...).

His comments were right on (the ones you posted directly in another place). Those comments that the formerly-banned poster made on YouTube were fairly accurate for what others would say and how they would use information like this (i.e., that someone was banned for nothing...) as exemplary of how they like to “mischaracterize” Republicans and those at Free Republic.

And, I would agree — that’s how the other side would construe this sort of thing. So, what he said was accurate.

I think his banning was unnecessary and, well, just reactionary. But he did actually break a rule.

Do you relay think that a misunderstanding of that sort justifys this?

“It’s people like you FReepers that substantiate peoples notions when the say ‘Ah, those liberals and conservatives, they’re just alike. It’s you people that are the biggest detriment to the conservative movement. Unapproachable, judgmental snobs. It’s people like you who make the Republican party look exclusive.”

“You see the non whites, the females and the undecided’s are reluctant to elect the Republican party because they think the Republican party is for rich, privileged, stuffy white male, like your self”.

So in response to this he basically accuses us of being a bunch of bigoted, racist, sexist snobs. And based on what? I've read the thread. There is nothing that would lead a reasonable person in control of their emotions to say these things.

I also understand that he was angry. He had every right to be. And people say things that are unreasonable when they are angry. But he went beyond...way beyond...a reasonable angry retort at FR for a banning that was an over reaction to a post that did fall outside the guidelines for what is appropriate here.

Common civility would have him retract those ignorant statements specifically, and apologize for using rote liberal talking points to falsely vilify us.

That's all I'm asking for. Common civility. I haven't seen it yet.
