Obama doesn't weed out illegal cash, GOP says Sun Oct 5, 2008 5:15pm EDT

By Andy Sullivan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Republican Party on Sunday said Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama had not done enough to screen out illegal campaign contributions and asked U.S. election officials to look into the matter.

Citing news reports, the Republican National Committee said Obama had accepted contributions from foreigners and taken more than the $2,300 maximum from donors who give in small increments. The Obama campaign denied the charges.

The RNC said it will ask the Federal Election Commission to examine Obama records in detail to determine the extent of the problem.

The Obama campaign could face fines if found guilty of violations by the FEC, but any decision would likely come after he faces Republican John McCain in the November 4 presidential election.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said the McCain campaign has had to return over $1.2 million to donors who potentially violated the law with their contributions, including money from foreign nationals.

Uhhhh....Yes, he returned it. That's the whole point, Obama person, he discovered it and returned it. How can anyone so stupid be this close to the presidency?

Let's not forget that that Harry Reid has refused for almost a year to bring any of Bush's nominees to the FEC up for a vote. As a result, the FEC lacks a quorum, and probably can't take any official action on anything.

Not that they would do anything, anyway. Bush seems to have a postive gift for making weak appointments and losing control over these agencies.

Nothing will be done. It's just as well to raise these complaints, because it gets a little free publicity. I think they should also mention that some of the money comes from Palestinian terrorists. But the FEC will be toothless.

I think the only landslide Obama is going to see is the landslide of information on all his nefarious connections coming out in the next 4 weeks. Bring it on! Let those chickens start roosting.

We have a surfeit of voters that have majored in historical and political ignorance, that’s how.

As for expecting meaningful redress from the Feckless Elections Commission, it is to laugh.

Al campaigns receive some bad donations and have to send them back. McCain has sent his bad donations back. Obama hasn't, at least not yet. Obama has only sent back SOME of their bad donations.

Clinton played the same game, who cares if you have to pay a fine 6 months (or 6 years) after the election is over. Nobody will go to jail and they know that.

The media is an arm of Obamas campain. The only way to beat them is all out WAR. Hammer Obama 100% of the time. Get rid of lilly livered surrogates and get some fighters in there. If there are any. Attack the media as hard as you do Obama. Otherwise.....Super secret escape plan.

He could be guilty as sin and nothing will happen.

Nothing sticks to the Teflon Con.

It’s sickening.

Don't forget the court of public opinion. This time, it is actually the only one that counts.
