Backers say citizenship shouldnt be necessary to serve on city boards.
If Boulders voters approve Ballot Question 2E this fall, city residents who arent eligible to vote and who arent U.S. citizens will be eligible to serve on the citys 20 boards and commissions.
The measure would remove the charter requirement that applicants to serve on those boards and commissions be registered electors that is, registered to vote. Instead, applicants hoping for an appointment from the City Council to those boards would simply have to be 18 years old and have lived in the city for at least a year.
The measures backers say it will help the city reach out to a broader group of people who can make meaningful contributions to city government, even if they arent U.S. citizens. Boulders City Council has twice in the past two years considered putting similar measures on the ballot and then backed away in the face of criticism. This time, the measures on, but critics remain.

My main problem with this is that the City Council should not be granting rights or privileges to noncitizens to take an official role in the government of this city, said Fred Rubin, a Boulder resident ...
But City Councilwoman Angelique Espinoza, who supports the measure, said its aim is simple...
At its core, this issue is really about inclusion,

That’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard of. The new world order, globalisation, world citizen agenda is on the march. Citizenship, national sovereignty, borders, patriotism, loyalty, will all soon be anachronisms.
Incredible.
Naturally, when left wing state and local governments find it impossible to fund their ridiculous spending, they expect the federal government to help them out.
Forget that. Tax the hell out of your residents to pay for their goodies.
“...is really about inclusion.”
OH MY!
Let a bunch of White Supremicists move in to Boulder and take over the majority of positions on the City Council, then we’ll see how much this woman likes “inclusion”!
Whoa, Im speechless again!
At its core, this issue is really about inclusion,
Can democrats be trusted to anything in the nations best interest?

Councilwoman Angelique Espinoza should be fitted for feathers.
Would you expect anything else coming out of “The Peoples Republic of Boulder”?
Boulder, todays Burlington,Vt.
One an old stupid liberal bastion, the other a newer liberal bastion.
Both aren’t worth a bucket of spit.
Recall the movie “Dr. Zhivago” of the early sixties where the Bolshies take over the private residences of the Bougies and redistribute the living space with new credentialled power by committee the serfs never legitimately had before. Boulder suggesting the same ‘Bolshie’ takeover of city govt. in the same way...county govt, state govt., nat. govt. next in line. Culture, language, borders, govt. at all levels and, not the least the economy under increasing attack...civil war of the non-shooting type is the fact of the day, and this is just one of its many manifestations in Colorado. The assault is from the top down as well as from the bottom up...middle class squeezed from both pincers. Lots of frogs being slowly boiled in increasing numbers. Esposito just proposing the old, but still active, ideas of all-inclusive Marxism.
The civil war we are in is being recognized better as the pain it causes becomes more apparent (the frogs are being heated too quickly, as the impatience of “progressives” grows).
Remember retired judge, ex-mayor, ex-RTA Board member Richard McLean and his wife Edith Stevens taking direct action in Boulder ?
This is the same city council that once discussed seceeding from the union. Boulder WANTS to be a 3rd world Socilaist state. This is a great way to make it happen.
Hope all you property owners in Boulder are ready for your property values to plummet. And you folks that own businesses in downtown Boulder... You’re about to find out just how demanding a bunch of 3rd world natives and Marxists can be once they run the show in city council. Think Hugo Chavez and Chiapas. Best of luck to you.
They want inclusion when it comes to taking your stuff.
