Allegheny County cannot verify the software in its touch-screen voting machines is what the state certified when it allowed paperless voting machines, county officials say, because the state provides no mechanism for such an audit.

Hanging algorithms.
How ironic. A ‘Rat strnghold.
I liked the comment from the CompSci prof. That we’ve known this election was coming since 1789.
guess that explains Obama’s 15 point Quinn. Poll lead in PA?
You could get only one piece of chicken for free, but you can vote all you want.
That’ pure bs.
agree. Just do a simultaneous print out of each vote.
If you follow that logic then you can’t certify the vote in a Dimorat stronghold. A win by default?
Well, there is that secret ballot thing.
If the poll was taken on voting machines.
That's an invitation to union intimidation and retaliation.

Only if the print is done serially into a roll of paper. Why not ...
1) have a printout handed to each voter at the end of each vote
2) the voter checks their votes
3) when they are satisfied, they fold it up, and put it into the same old-fashioned box they always did
The computer has it.
The box has it.
Checks and balances.
Right?
What about when the union demands it's rank and file present the receipt?
Did Hugo Chavez sell them the program he used? Better find out!
Not sure I believe that “excuse” .... You CAN audit ANYTHING. What they appear to be using as a dodge, as an excuse, is that the “state” didn’t tell the county what to do, what exactly to look for, what paperwork to fill out.
And the county is too stupid, or too reluctant, to figure it out on its own.

1) In the event of a “recount”, the lack of the receipt being in the old-fashioned box, means that vote won’t count.
2) Observers could make sure each voter that emerges from the booth, puts the receipt into the old-fashioned box.
the computer could....
Oh, for God’s sake! why are WE trying to figure this out. MY bank almost NEVER makes a mistake when i withdraw out of the ATM! and they are saying they CAN”t audit???
