From the Obama Campaign: Hari Sevugan, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, fired back almost immediately in a statement: “Governor Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swiftboat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills. In fact, the very newspaper story Governor Palin cited in hurling her shameless attack made clear that Senator Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less ‘pals,’ and that he has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was eight. What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy.”

Bor-ing pap....

If McCain and Palin would start talking about this kind of stuff everyday then it would force the MSM to cover what they are saying and Hussein would be forced to put out rebuttals. It would force the MSM to revisit Ayres, Wright, maybe his questionable donations and the huge laundry list of why Hussein should not be president. They would be forced to cover whatever the candidates are saying, therefore putting the seed of doubt in people’s minds.

The common thread in most political propaganda I've seen is the use of MSM sourcing as proof of the argument's validity. Campaign commercials and responses to criticism share this trait. In this case (Ayers) we have more than the editorial opinion of a newspaper as evidence. The only way to use it in a timely manner would be to get out there and talk it up loud. Shove their half assed defense back up their ass from whence it came. Wrapped in the NYT, of course.
