The nationally televised melt-down in Denver would destroy the DNC’s chances in November and would have ruptured relations between the party and their most loyal constituency (blacks) for years to come. Hillary would take the blame and wouldn’t have a chance in 2012. Her hands were effectively tied on this issue.
