It's actually far worse than merely opposing medical treatment for children born alive following an abortion attempt. What BArack Obama was seeking to protect was a method for killing alive unborn children--killing by abortionists, thus a twisted way to kill without doing so inside the woman's body--which was growing more popular for two reasons (according to court testimony in a hearing regarding the abortion procedure in another state).

Obama pled that he was trying to protect Roe v Wade. The ad is focused on the wrong truth. The real truth is, the IL bills were aimed at stopping the abortion method using forced prematyure delivery then neglecting the born alive child until he or she dies ... Obama was trying to protect this infanticide under the guise of 'failed abortions must not be used to assault "a woman's right to choose".' But the truth that he was actually trying to prevent the outlawing of this new way to kill the alive unborn is what folks are missing.

And given that he was trying to protect infanticide being used under the guise of a woman's right to choose abortion, given the thing Obama knew he was trying to protect (not the born alive children), we may rightly discern he was trying to protect infanticide from being outlawed in Illinois.
