You've got to love brutal honesty, especially when it comes from the financial media.
The Senate's version of a bailout bill, which passed last night by a margin of 74-25, included "sweeteners" - or obscure tax breaks - including benefits for the manufacturer of wooden arrows used in children's toys and another for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.
Melissa Francis, co-host of CNBC's "The Call," and "Squawk on the Street" co-host Mark Haines called it all "crap" on their Oct. 1 special coverage of the vote on the network. Their description was similar to the one used by House Minority Leader John Boehner's regarding the House version of the bailout: "crap sandwich."

I agree with their analysis. I’m no economics expert, but I read a bit about the addons and saw right away they were excrement.
They do indeed seem to have “deviated” from the NBC norm — and all the way up to good sense. It feels strange to praise any thing NBC, but “Well done!” All the giveaway in the current bailout is as immendiate as the (crafty) crafters can make it, while any recovery for the taxpayer will have to happen with the fat cats miles and years away from extradition. Phooey!
The children’s arrow thing was utterly bizarre.

Dick Armey was on for 2 hours this AM on CNBC’s Squawk Box.
It was pretty interesting watching him arguing against the bailout with a republican Senator (I forget which one right now).
I was up early and saw Armey. He had the perspective that I have and was saying things better than I could.
Did you catch his comment on Pres. Hoover, in respect of Pres. Rooseveldt under cutting him. Did you catch the name of the book, about Hoover, he suggested the Senator should read?
No, I missed the title. I record Squawk Box each morning, but deleted it, otherwise I could have gone back to find out.
John Harwood (the political reporter for CNBC) was the one who he was talking to about Hoover. I thought I saw his jaw hit the floor.
And just for the record, Armey was arguing with Sen. Bob Corker, R-TN on the bailout. CNBC does have that clip on their website.

The two senators from Oregon. One dem and One Rep. Bi-Partisan garbage. It was at the request of some toy maker in Oregon.
