From the campaign trail, Senator Barack Obama, in front of hopeful, change-hungry masses in Reno, Nevada, said:
“There is plenty of blame to go around and many in Washington and on Wall Street who deserve it. There will be time to punish those who set this fire, but now is the moment for us to come together and put the fire out. If your neighbor’s house is burning, you’re not gonna spend a whole lot of time saying ‘well, that guy was always irresponsible. He always left the stove on. He always was smoking in bed,’ All those things may be true, but his house could end up affecting your house. We’ve got to make sure that we put the fire out and then go start making sure that these folks stop leaving the stove on.”
To expand on Senator Obama’s insightful “firefighting” analogy, allow me to share a counter-thought that immediately popped into my head after hearing it – all part of my “what happens next” reflex mechanism. It isn’t a perfect equivalence, but it is sound – and illustrative of the differences between right and left.
Obama wants to fight the fire. Okay, fine. But what is he planning on fighting the fire with? This is absolutely critical because it plays a mammoth role in what happens next. Carbon Tetrachloride, for example, is a non-flammable, colorless liquid that could be sufficient in fighting the fire – and, indeed, it was used extensively in the early 20th century in fire extinguishers. However, its use dropped dramatically (to practically nil) because of its highly toxic nature when absorbed through the skin or when inhaled. At high temperatures, it forms the poisonous gas phosgene.
Fighting the fire is important, Senator, but what is used to wage the battle is just as significant – at least to most conservatives, because we wonder “what happens next.”
It is the modus operandi of the left.
Democrats advocate a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq, but don’t bother to contemplate “what happens next.”
Democrats advocate raising taxes on the so-called “rich” – those that individually make above $250,000 – but don’t bother to take a page from history to understand “what happens next.”
Democrats spread the salve of universal health care to audiences who lap it up like parched desert dwellers but don’t look around at government run health care systems the world over to understand “what happens next.”
Despite Senator Obama’s assertions to the contrary, it is very important for the American people to know and understand what got the house burning in the first place. Recall that Obama said:
“There will be time to punish those who set this fire, but now is the moment for us to come together and put the fire out.”
Anyone who believes that, please stand on your head. I haven’t slapped my knee so hard or laughed that loudly since the savvy Senator Joe Biden told us about Americans watching President Roosevelt on television in 1929 … or when Speaker Nancy Pelosi, two days ago, said – and I quote:
“..Chairman (Ben) Bernanke is probably one of the foremost authorities in America on the subject of the Great Depression. I don’t know what was so great about the depression, but that’s the name they give it…”
(I just can’t get enough of that woman, let me tell you).
Does Senator Obama even hear what he is saying? (Don't answer that). Or do his deep, dulcet tones lull even his own sensibilities into a serene cat-nap-like slumber? Apparently, Obama has already found the necessary time on the campaign trail to disperse condemnation because he is chronically, habitually, consistently placing blame on the Republicans, despite his “plenty of blame to go around” verbosity. He resolutely deposits fault squarely at the crinkling toes of the GOP for what he calls “eight years of failed policies.”
Where are you Senator McCain?
Fight back. Stand up for what’s right here … because if you don’t, I can tell you “what happens next.”
McCain lost my vote.......not that he cared anyway.
I want people in jail. I want heads to roll. I want Franklin Raines, Barack Hussein Obama, Chris Dodd, Jim Johnson and anyone else involved in this fiasco, investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I want a Constitutional Amendment that legislation like the Community Reinvestment Act can never be passed again. If we make examples of these people by throwing them in jail, we can ensure this kind of garbage never ever happens again.
McCain didn’t just lose your vote,he lost the election.
We redouble our efforts to kill it in the house.
Screw with us, oppress us, lie to us, cheat us, insult us - see what happens next.
