McCain, Obama, Lieberman, and Biden have voted for the bailout. No word yet on Graham.
It’s been gone for two decades. Everyone is just waking up to that fact. At least with McCain, we won’t freefall into communism. FReepers need to understand that we are already in massive trouble. The tendrils of socialism are firmly entrenched in America. The best thing we can do is tread water right now, just stay afloat. In four to eight years, maybe Sarah will throw us a rope or a life preserver.
“I’m not sure which of the three factored into nominating McQueeg.”
Assuredly, I didn’t vote for him in the primaries. But we’re faced with the way it is NOW, not back then. For what it’s worth, I believe firmly that he loves this country, does what he thinks is the best thing (even though he’s sometimes (ok, often) wrong, like GW’s been) BUT, most importantly, is dedicated to keep it/us safe. Regarding b. hussein, he does NOT want what’s best for this country - not at all.
All that stuff is a BIG HUGE ROUGH trap made by the dems for conservatives and McCAIN NEEDS to get out quickly to come back in the polls.
Obviously people are angry against the responsibles of that mess BUT ALSO are very concerned about their savings, retirements and jobs...Then people will be angry and anxious against conservative republicans if they feel that this mess is not fixed and threaten their wealth.
In addition McCAIN is repeatedly bound to GWB who is himself (falsely)held has responsible of that crisis by an arrogant lying OBSSAMA.
Then what should be McCAIN’s winning strategy in that situation now!
Maybe he is right to appear as the non-ideological/non-partisan man WHEN meanwhile some Republicans propose a reallistic alternative plan...
It should be clever to use a “2 shot strategy” to reassure and lead in the same time.
This being said i think he should make a comprehensible,accute speech,maybe AFTER a bailout agreement,and then NAME THE NAMES...OBAMA FANNY-MAE FREDDY-MAC....
Times are numbered before that decisive election...
All of them - or at least whichever ones are required in order that the winning candidate has an (R) next to his name. That's really the only thing that's important.
Whaddya know -- you slap enough pork on a s*** sandwich, and hey, even senators will say it tastes delicious!
Do you think Senator McCain should push for more aggressive pro-life programs in order to attract more conservatives ?
There is a hierarchy between principles AND ,in addition, principles are made TO BE APPLIED in the real life!
That is harder than repeating endlessly the same things and not moving one finger to fix real problems of real people.
This a general thought and i have no personnal solution in that financial crisis as i am not a specialist!
But i am sure that “principles” when they are not correctly used ,understood and combined (in an ideological way,out of touch with reallity)can also hurt!
A first reallity is that there are 2 candidates in position of winning that election AND another one is that one is way better than the other on many issues
Thank you for interjecting some sense into this thread. This bill SUCKS and it's awful that so many voted in favor.
However, we have got to keep that socialist Obama out of the White House. That has to remain our objective despite how many distractions the Democrats cook up and throw into the mix.
I, for one, am getting very tired of all these drama queens here on Free Republic wringing their hands, announcing that our country is finished and that they're going to have a temper tantrum and not vote for McCain so that they can enable that socialist to gain the WH.
I've noticed that not a single one of these drama queens has any solution or is offering to contribute to our nation's restoration in any way. All they do is whine and sulk and mope.
Time for some people to grow up and see the true objective.
Hmmm....your psychic powers are a bit off. Does you Psychic Friends and Company need a government bailout also?
you need to run along and wash your mouth out with soap.
After you eat the "crap sandwich" and swell down the spritzer you're the one that will need a good mouth washing.
You were never going to vote for McCain anyway. You've been outed on another thread. One of your posts from 2005 has surfaced and it pretty much tells it all.

Are there any reasons to support any of the political whores in the republican primary or general election?

Well...after watching this “debate” and previous republican debates I have only one question: “Is this the best the republican party can muster up?”
My vote is too valuable to be wasted on this collection of _______________(fill in the blank).

Im a youthful 18 year old first time voter. Ill be doing a write-in this year. No need to waste a perfectly good vote on a moderate or RINO.
Now, go stand in the corner mister.
This is just the start.
I wish people paid attention. It is all over. All you posters that are trying to take the high road and shouting down people who are trying to tell you that the house is not burning, it is collapsing.
Spend some time checking out what is in store for our Nation in the next 5 years. The defaults are going to be 5 times are great. This is an election feel good fix. 700-1 Trillion cannot "fix" this problem at hand. It is not even close.
The Goal is to restore confidence and free up the Credit markets. There is nothing that a Government can do to alert people to stop spending foolishly than to what has occurred in the last three weeks.
Americans already are maxed out on debt. They are piled on with all the credit that they can take and then some.
Who are the people who are going to jump start the Credit system?
Who is having their confidenced restored?
Business? Hows the economy? Ready and poised for for some type of upswing?
We are in for some historical times ahead. This is not a market that is going to correct itself. This is not a "bump in the road"
Pay attention, you will need to for your families and friends.
This Bailout is pure Political garbage brought to you by the people who caused it.
What's on TV tonight dear???
AMEN!!
Get used to hearing the words “President Obama”. This was the final straw. Maybe four years of the coming disaster will get peoples’ heads out of their arses, but I do doubt it. We are doomed.
Cease your rationality!
Sure they have a solution. The same one that worked so brilliantly in 2006, resulting in putting democrats in charge of watch dogging our financial institutions, and traitors like al murditha in charge of our military's purse strings.
There's only two candidates, yet some seem to think if they just don't vote, neither will win.
It's one or the other. Period.
What does it say about Bush that he pushed a socialistic bailout bill that makes Paulson into a dictator and the bill is one favored far more by the Dems than Bush’s own Party?
Bush working overtime to steer the undecided away from the Repub Party. Sheesh! What a bozo! With friends like Bush, the Repubs don’t need enemies.
In Calif, our two senators and my rep all voted for the Bush MOABailouts. Of course, they are all far left Dems.
Yes, ACORN and a lot of other bad stuff can easily be hidden in the text of a bill that is on the order of a long novel in length.
Especially when anything longer than a Penthouse foldout is too long for our Senators’ to personally look carefully at.
