China doesn’t and has never used mark to market.

China has a different system of dealing with funny money. More effective, but I don't think shooting crooked executives in the head would be considered acceptable here.

Vote for McCain whether you like him or not. An Obama inauguration is something I don’t want to see on TV.

Good post.

We still must vote for McCain to take care of our futures. Its not so bright when you think of the future with the Obamessiah in charge with tax hikes.

McCain said that he would not allow pork barrel spending as President. I imagine that that would be pretty hard to do since nearly every bill has someone’s pet project tied onto it. I think that the examples that he brought us (DNA testing for bears?) is the kind that he would deffinitely strike. If each earmark became a bill, he would never have a minute to focus on anything else.

No bailout=economy collpase= Obama Presidency.

Whatever collapse would have occurred without the bailout will still occur, but it will be worse and we'll have $700B+ less of available credit in the aftermath than we would have had without it.

"An Obama inauguration is something I don’t want to see on TV."

Close your eyes just like John McCain did.

Right you are...pompous, preening jackasses, congratulating themselves for spending massive amounts of money accruable to our grandchildren...to hell with them.

NO, everyone does NOT oppose this. Have you been keeping up with the polls the last week?

Yes, last week it was 70-80% opposed. After the 777 drop on Monday, it was only 34% opposed. The rest were for it or undecided.

And it doesn’t matter what we think in polls anyway. We have a representative democracy, right?

So trash McCain and help Obama. The world isn’t fair nor perfect. Gotta do the best you can.

If McCain had voted against this, he would definitely be done in the election. The MSM and Obama would be running ads saying McCain is against saving the economy.

Since both McCain and Obama voted for this, it neutralizes the issue politically. Now McCain has got to get his message out who caused this.

Less than 5 weeks folks. And we are still in for a slew of bad economic news between now and November.

What do you get for pretending the danger’s not real?
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel.
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem.
No, this is not a bad dream.

Score 1 presidency for Obama!

Yep, and why not: McCain was right there at the altar with him. I assume the Right Reverend Reid gave his blessing to this union.

For a while I thought McCain might actually save us from Obama, no more. Not even sure how much difference it would make anyway. A dime's worth I guess.

If I were Gov. Palin, I'd respectfully get off this Titanic and swim back to Alaska.

But like in a medical emergency, you have to stop the bleeding and save the patient. Later you can do detailed analyis/testing, reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation.

Nice analogy, almost. There's a patient who's limb is totally ripped to shreds and bleeding badly, and there's a finite supply of bagged blood available. The limb is damaged beyond repair, and the only way to stop the bleeding will be to apply a tourniquet.

Which makes more sense: start a transfusion, or apply the tourniquet? This bill is a transfusion.

don’t like this, but we have got to do something.

I think we are being given the bums rush.....why is this something that has to be "rushed" through....a little thought on something so major is not a bad thing.

Is your song quote trying to imply that it is I or the Senators who are refusing to see reality?

It’s a torniquet. These banks can trot their bad assets over to the local fed master and stop the bleeding. These assets will be off their books and deeded over to Uncle Sam for auction or cold storage. The investment banks are done. They have already been taken out and shot. It’s the traditional banks we are trying to save.
