Nana's family had a shepherd (Nero) who almost got them shot for that...only it wasn't newspapers. Once, it was a bowl of hamburger a neighbor had set out to defrost, and the other time it was a neighbor's pet Peacock. Of course, the Peacock was dead by the time Nero brought him to 'Momma'.

Come to think of it, I wonder if that's why they moved from South to North Phoenix?

My first dog was also a shepherd and he swiped a beef roast that one of our neighbors had set out to defrost.
