Fridays Washington Post carried an ad from PBS touting their two TV debate moderators: "Objective. Impartial. Independent. The NewsHours Jim Lehrer and Washington Weeks Gwen Ifill bring PBSs tradition of integrity to the most important conversations in America so you can make up your own mind."
Sadly, that ad is not accurate. Even before addressing whether "independence" is demonstrated by Ifill writing a new book celebrating Barack Obamas bold "Breakthrough," Ifills questions in the vice presidential debate in 2004 displayed an undeniable bias against Vice President Cheney.
For example, she pressed Cheney to attack Democratic nominee John Edwards personally: "President Bush has derided John Kerry for putting a trial lawyer on the ticket. You yourself have said that lawsuits are partly to blame for higher medical costs. Are you willing to say that John Edwards, sitting here, has been part of the problem?"
Ifill then turned around and asked the Democrat if he was feeling pained at the attack she had just requested: "Senator Edwards, new question to you, same topic. Do you feel personally attacked when Vice President Cheney talks about liability reform and tort reform and the president talks about having a trial lawyer on the ticket?"

Sarah Palin 1 minute ago on Hannity
“we’re underdogs”
“her comments are motivating”
“makes us work that much harder to connect wih the electorate”
Hannity questioned the huge media stink that would be raised if he were the debate moderator. Wow, that would be ugly!
My bet is on Palin..
Fridays Washington Post carried an ad from PBS touting their two TV debate moderators: “Objective. Impartial. Independent. The NewsHours Jim Lehrer and Washington Weeks Gwen Ifill bring PBSs tradition of integrity to the most important conversations in America so you can make up your own mind.”
Okaty its PBS EVERYONE knows they lean to the left, sometimes so far they fall over themselves...
Ifill should do the right thing and recuse herself. That said she should have done it when her name was first mentioned. She is a shameless, unabashed Obama supporter with no business - NO BUSINESS - faking a role as a remotely objective party.
But to question her is racist, right?
Now I grant your premise that Miss (Mrs?) Ifill should be declared ineligible to 'moderate' a debate -- given her clear-cut support for one side of the debate. However, the question she posed to Cheney, above, seems pretty fair to me. Because frankly, John Edwards, 'sitting here', was a big part of the 'problem'. I suppose Mr. Cheney was too polite to say so, but I rather liked the fact that Miss/Mrs Ifill invited Mr. Cheney to whack the erstwhile ambulance chaser upside the head...
Jim Lehrer (PBS, D): "Ifill is the best, most impartial, moderator EVER."
He/she who phrases the question wins the debate.
McCain has had trouble with the base of the party, he is my Senator and even I have not voted for him isince he first ran as a congressman. I only sent $ to the campaign after he selected Sarah Palin.
I have testified many times as an expert wittness, and if I had any ANY conflicts of interest it was my duty and responsibility to recuse myself. THAT IS PROFESSIONALISM to stay on, as Ifill will do, shows a total disregard for professionalism.
McCain is just being the fool Ive seen for 20 plus years in Arizona.
Pray that Gov. Palin can pull McCains cheastnuts out of the fire.
Exactly. Howie Kurtz was on CNN playing the race card today regarding this story.
DID OBAMA KNOW she was writing a book about him? Did she do interviews?
Public BS. How and why do they get to moderate?
Senator Biden, what is you favorite color and as a followup, why is it your favorite color?
Ifill question:
Gov. Palin, what is the wing velocity of a South African Hummingbird?

And even break their ankle. Ouchie.
Note: Plagiarized from Monty Python’s Holy Grail
Poorly.
Defund PBS and do it now!
