Des Moines, Iowa (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain, once renowned for his jocular sessions with journalists, appeared irritable and at times sarcastic in an interview in which he defended running mate Sarah Palin's experience and campaign ads critical of rival Barack Obama.
Meeting Tuesday with the editorial board of The Des Moines Register, McCain was asked why he picked the Alaska governor, someone "who doesn't have a lot of experience."
"Thank you, but I disagree with your fundamental principal that she doesn't have the experience," McCain replied before citing Palin's work as a PTA member, city council member, mayor and governor. "You and I just have a fundamental disagreement, and I am so happy the American people seem to be siding with me."
When it was suggested that Palin's lack of experience worried voters, McCain turned sarcastic.
"Really? I haven't detected that in the polls, I haven't detected that among the base," he said. "If there's a Georgetown cocktail party person who, quote, calls himself a conservative who doesn't like her, good luck. I don't dismiss him. I think the American people have overwhelmingly shown their approval."

Neil Boortz had McCain’s econmomic adviser on this morning and he said that after this vote today that the McCain camp was going full on after Obama and the dems roll in this mess. I only hope it’s true. People will soon forget about this vote and the things that come out closer to election day will stick.
McCain just needs to say that Palin has more experience than Obama. Say this over, and over, and over.
Then if pressed by what he means, say “Obama starting running for President after only 100 days in the Senate. Sarah Palin on the other hand had already accomplished leadership work in a variety of fields including the governorship of the largest state in the union.”
DON’T GET HIM ANGRY, FOLKS. His temper’s gonna take the controls in a few weeks-and then the show begins.
He needs to slam the press every chance he gets, and slam them hard.
He needs to make Spiro Agnew's attacks on the press look like the work of a Boy Scout in Sunday-school.
Look at the fast one they just pulled by putting Gwen Ifill in as the moderator of the VP debate, even though she's got an ObamaSlober book coming out in November, and didn't bother to tell the McCain campaign about the blatant conflict of interest.
The press is a disgrace, and Americans are angry.
McCain needs to tap into that anger and let rip.
Thanks for that video link.
The leftist MSM template requires that McCain be peevish. Therefore they will report anger, sarcasm, etc. where it doesn’t exist. Half the country will buy it. Maybe more.
“McCain was asked why he picked the Alaska governor, someone “who doesn’t have a lot of experience.”
Well, I would not be to “jocular” either if asked a two part asshat question like that.......
But maybe the country wants a guy who tried, tried, tried to play nicey-nice and then, when that failed, went ballistic. People are angry. McCain, GET ANGRY.
Obama would crack under that sort of questioning.

He should have just hauled off and smacked them, they basically report it as such.
You've got yourself a potential outstanding tag line there.
Consider the source. They don’t know what sarcasm is in leftwing liberal country.
Yes, they are trying to frame his responses as sarcastic and irritable.
AP has a pretty big stick up its ass.
More of that. More of that. LOL
One of these days, the GOP is going to discover that they never, ever will get a fair shake from the Drive-By Media.
But like Charlie Brown, the stupid SOB’s keep trying to kick the football. I was just hoping they would figure this out in my lifetime.
Sigh...
I like it!
Actually, it's probably a good idea to periodically check the story, just to see if the AssPress has changed their headline. If the Chosen One keeps falling in the polls, the AssPress may feel the need to report that "McCain goes on Rampage, Bites Reporter".
