McCain-Palin isn’t dead yet.
But it is on life support.

She did very well in this interview - sounded relaxed. I think she got too much coaching to be wary of gotchas from her handlers in the Gibson/Couric grillings. She wasn’t at ease like she was with Hugh.

But it is on life support.6 points behind is hardly life support.
Remember Clinton vs Dole? Polls had Clinton beating Dole by as much as 24 points weeks before the election. It turned out to be only 8 points and Clinton couldn't even break 50% against the hapless Dole. There's a lot of fight ahead of us!

I think McCain team is playing it coy. After an initial burst after the Palin announcement, they decided to hold her back so her popularity would flame out to early. Sure, she's taken a hit as things calmed down, but think how the base was pumped as she made the rounds.
Like a thoroughbred being help back around the last turn, they'll let her go and sprint to the finish on a wave of popularity.
