Look, I’m with you on wanting Wall Street to suffer. I think that bonuses of management of the dead firms should be recouped by the bailers as fraudulent conveyance. But that doesn’t mean that what is happening is not real. It is real, and significant, and will be lasting if it overshoots to the downside.

I agree with you that something needs to be done, no question, it's just that I don't believe that a rushed through $700 billion bill is the prudent way to go. We should be very careful to make sure we don't vastly and unnecessarily increase the size of the federal government monster. I also despise the politics associated with it. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and Rahm Emanuel are three of the most contemptuous, shallow, partisans hacks I've ever seen.
