When someone starts a run for the Presidency, why don't they be required to present a birth cert.?

Because the Constitution by inference leaves the determination of whether they meet the qualifications to the Electoral College? I'm fine with your idea, but it would require at minimum a new law, and possibly an amendment.

The Constitution says they must be a US citizen. It would make sense to have to prove it in order to run for President.
