Unless McCain takes ownership of the bailout issue and gets behind the House Pubbies to craft a conservative response to this crisis he’s gonna get dusted by that Marxist regeneration of “Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius.” Period call in the dogs; the hunt is over. Without swift action, it will not matter what the lovely and gracious Sarah Palin accomplishes at the debate. BTW, you don’t make up ground by castigating your allies in Congress. A “plague on both your houses” is a pathetic response. Palin helped galvanize the base, and McCain is willing to throw it all away. It’s like a bad dream.

Without going into the election, as I know Americans quite rightly like to fight their own battles internally, I could comment on personality.
I have observed various leaders over the years- including Winston Churchill (dates me). I have seen a flaw which is a sort of liberalistic ideal. That of reaching out and holding hands with the opposition. Rush Limbaugh has emphasised that you do not try to make those you have defeated like you.
Canadian politics shows the utter contempt for the media for those who play Mr Nice guy. Respect for hard nosed in your face leaders. Prime Minister Chretien half choked some poor devil, who got in his face. The poor man was unemployed. No charges, not much if any bad press.
Please excuse this homily!
What I do say is that the personality of John McCain is such, that he is trying to be Mr Nice guy. His enemies are circling the waters. I say this, because I was astounded when he threw Billy Cunningham under the bus. I know this hit Billy hard. This on the use of the name Hossain.
My prayers for November.
