Pelosi: The Legislation Has Failed But the Crisis Has Not Gone Away; We Must Work in a Bipartisan Way to Pass New Legislation Sep 29 07:32 PM US/Eastern
WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Chairman Barney Frank of the House Financial Services Committee, and House Democratic leaders held a news conference this afternoon following the defeat of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. Below are her opening remarks:
"Good afternoon. As you know, about a week and a half ago, the Administration visited Capitol Hill and described the crisis in our financial markets and in our economy. A couple of days later, they presented us with their legislation, and since then we have worked in a bipartisan way to improve that legislation. We've entered into those conversations in the spirit of bipartisanship, with the understanding that each side would have half of our votes to pass the bill.
"Today when the legislation came to the floor, the Democratic side more than lived up to its side of the bargain. While the legislation may have failed, the crisis is still with us.

I checked google. Pelosi and bipartisan produced zero hits.
Kind of makes you wonder if she didn’t jinx the bill on purpose! She knows Franks and Dodd have more to blame for the economy now than Bush does. She also knows that she can’t let on that it is so.
Point taken, do we want a congress with a nine percent approval rating doing anything.

Americans are supposed to “trust” congress, the self-same idiots who created this huge mess (namely Frank, Dobbs and Raines) to FIX the problem by rushing through a bailout bill?
The US does NOT trust their elected officials, yet Pelosi and Co. are convinced they just didn’t get the message out, the GOP didn’t vote properly, etc. ANYBODY’s fault but theirs.

It must drive Pelosi nuts when she realizes that Sarah Palin accomplished more in her first week as governor than Pelosi has during her entire term in the house of misfits - er - reprehensibles - er - representatives.
