As I've posted before I believe that McCain/Palin have done somewhat of a rope-a-dope by getting on record all the talking points by the Dems and had to wait to see what the final bill in the bailout would be. Presuming this bill is a done deal (with some key changes thanks to the Pubbie House and McCain) McCain can now commence a campaign to impune the very Dems (Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, Obama etc.) that created the mess in the first place and then opposed any repair to a skewed system in 1999, 2003 and 2005.) The opening shot will hopefully be during the VP debate and then the two debates thereafter plus heavy ad buys. Obama has now laid claim to being, in essence, the key negotiator for the bill and thus owns it and all it's pittfalls.
I hope you’re right about McCain/Palin using this to advantage. I am very uncomfortable about the silence and reaching across the aisle stuff lately. My hope is that Zero, with his punky arrogance and his truth squads, will overplay his hand with decent Americans. McCain’s decency and calm may sway many voters. Not everyone is politically aware, and I have to keep reminding myself that McCain needs to reach out to those undecided Independents and a calm, decent demeanor may be part of the appeal.
