The Left/MSM is besides itself eulogizing one of their favorite sons. Just a reminder of Newman's true allegiance:

"On July 2, 1982...Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Officer Danny Faulkner..." http://www.danielfaulkner.com/

There's been plenty of adoration of Paul Newman on this forum too, unfortunately.

“...At the recent National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) conference in Alabama, the delegation in attendance vote unanimously to begin a boycott of persons, products and companies associated with the supporting of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal... In case you don’t know, he was convicted in the 1981 killing of Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner...Actor Paul Newman, and his products (an outspoken supporter of the killer)...”

C. Clark Kissinger was *nominated* for the PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award. Did he receive it?

Have you looked at who some of the judges of the PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award committee are?

On the RIP/Newman thread, some FReepers want to canonize Newman as some great American hero. Far from it. He made a few good films, but most were were dreary stories of human failures and bleak outcomes. Newman was way overrated as an actor. Hollywood loved him and rewarded him with 10 acting nominations. BFD.

Fact is, Newman was a proud liberal Democrat and a political activist who supported every issue and cause tied to the leftwing agenda. Newman also hated Pres Bush and didn’t think much of President Reagan either.

Sometimes conservatives need to be reminded that individuals like Paul Newman and his pal, Robert Redford, have helped to undermine our Republic and demand we embrace socialism.

When you evaluate someone you have to look at their full body of work. He did a lot more good than bad during his time on earth and his camps and quarter billion of charity fundraising contributed far more than a few misguided or idiotic stances. We need more stars and athletes like him rather than the Robert Downey, JR and Allen Iverson types we have so many of.

Thanks for posting something real about PN. I am not saddened by his passing but then again, I never wished for his death, either. His death is nodifferent from millions of others like it that bring grief to those around him . . . ‘nuff said about that.

He was still a leftist and his efforts aided the socialist cause. Every time somebody buys his products, you help purchase the rope that will eventually hang you. Newman and his allies on the left are, at the root of it all, anti-American. He may have been quite humanitarian in many of his impulses, but what is to be celebrated about that - millions and millions of the rest of us are, too. No, Paul Newman may have been a big movies star entitling him to millions of dollars of income, but that is something to be noted to the credit of the American system of enterprise. That he stayed with the same woman for most of his life is pretty much the same thing that the rest of us do. In short, his eulogy should be a paen to America and American ideals. The analysis of his life is another thing altogether - that should start with his involvement with the leftist assault on American freedoms and values through his ‘charitable’ work.

His crime? Fighting for justice for Mumia Abu-Jamal!...

I, too, want "justice" for Mumia... Get the sponges ready and crank up ol' sparky to 11 for this piece of human garbage.

As far as we can tell, Clark is first person to be sent to jail by the federal government since socialist leader Eugene Debs in 1919.

This statement just shows how dumb, plainly ignorant or willfully misguided thes people are
