Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20 years, everyone is well aware of Newman’s charitable work. Okay. Fine.

I’m more concerned with the damage he did to America by pushing for liberal socialist policies through the Democratic Party apparatus. Like big government, welfare state socialism, class warfare, social engineering, abortion rights, gay rights, heavy taxation, etc etc etc.

Lets not forget that Newman was a big supporter of every liberal Democrat going back to FDR -— including Truman, Stevenson, JFK, LBJ, RFK, Humphrey, McCarthy, McGovern, Carter and in more recent years, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Algore, John Kerry, Ned Lamont, Chris Dodd and Al Franken.

“$250 million worth of charitable donations in your summary of his life...”

Where did that money go? How much went to groups against the Iraq War. How much to fight global warming? How much to fund pro-abortion groups?

One area were I know the answer with certainty:

Funny that you post on a conservative website and deftly ignore all of the work Newman has done over his lifespan to promote the very things that seek to destroy America. Granted, forking out 250 million to charities sparkles the eyes of a lot of folks, but then, he made his pile of cash and set up his ‘charity’ business on the strength of his blue eyes and the shallow Hollywood charm they held for some shallow folks. Seems that ignoring the real work he’s done for anti-American enterprises is a hard thing for many to accept - even some on FR.

Can you answer the questions in post #6?

Your self-created title, which should have been posted as a vanity I think, [according to forum protocol], is incendiary ... (Paul Newman/Cop Killer) ...p-u-l-l-e-e-z.

I don't why why you have a hard-on for Newman but you might start by looking at Newman's Own 501(c)(3)-IRS FORM 990. Luckily for you, it's available online... with annotations on why he gave to the organizations.

When you find some incriminating evidence in the EDOCS, please ping me.

"...it didn't go to defend the First or Second Amendment or the Boy Scouts, but more than likely to global warming alarmists and criminal defense..."

You know this for sure? I mean this sincerely .... your claims are wild and unsubstantiated ... do some research and get back to me, K? ;)

“…Can you answer the questions in post #6?…”

The question is, why should I? If you have a point to make, make it. I posted what I do know (that Newman was an ardent leftist). If you aren’t aware of this, then perhaps you should do the research.

“…Your self-created title, which should have been posted as a vanity I think, [according to forum protocol], is incendiary ... (Paul Newman/Cop Killer) ...p-u-l-l-e-e-z…”
I’ll defer to your wisdom regarding forum protocol. Regarding my association of Newman and the cop killer, I’m curious as to what aspect of that you object to. Newman’s support of Mumia Abu Jamal is no secret. Nor is Mumia’s guilt to anyone who is familiar with the case. Before you dismiss this association with your sarcastic “p-u-l-l-e-z…”, I suggest you google “Maureen Faulkner”, Officer Faulkner’s wife. Although he was murdered 27 years ago, she is still seeks justice for her husband. People like Newman slander his memory in pursuit of freeing his killer.

“…I don’t why why you have a hard-on for Newman but you might start by looking at Newman’s Own 501(c)(3)-IRS FORM 990…”
Again, why? I noticed that while you have suggested I do some research, you have provided no evidence that Newman was not exactly what I have accused him of being, a leftist. I don’t need to look at the above document when I have access to these:

“…an idealist who took to the streets to protest the war in Vietnam…” (to bad for one million Cambodians)
http://www.truthdig.com/arts_culture/item/20080927_actor_and_philanthopist_paul_newman_dies_at_83/

“…new President Ronald Reagan (really not pleased)…”
(I’ll let you do your own research on the man he did like, Jimmy Carter)
http://www.rollingstone.com/blogs/traverstake/2008/09/paul-newman-a-fans-notes.php

“…Newman remained political — dedicated to civil rights, women’s rights and gay rights, committed to ending the nuclear arms race and determined to elect opponents of war and militarism.
Newman supported, and even wrote for, The Nation.
And he was a steady campaigner for and contributor to progressive causes and candidates – mostly Democrats but also anti-war Republican Pete McCloskey when he challenged Nixon in the Republican primaries of 1972 and to Green Ralph Nader in 2000. In 2006, the actor helped Connecticut’s Ned Lamont mount a successful Democratic primary challenge to U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman. (Newman got so into the Lamont campaign that he even volunteered to do calls for the campaign — and wrote his own script.)…This year, Newman was a maxed-out contributor to the campaign of Barack Obama for president…”
http://www.thenation.com/blogs/thebeat/365464

These are just a few facts which allow me to brand Newman. That being said, you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t find your folksy “..do some research and get back to me, K? ;)” sufficient reason to heed your advice. I’ve done my research.

As to why I have what you have so elegantly referred to as a “hard-on” for Newman?

“…Such high profile personalities as Spike Lee, Susan Sarandon, Paul Newman, Maya Angelou and Alec Baldwin, to name a few, have lent their names to advertisements claiming Mumia’s trial had been unfair and calling for a new trial. Danny’s killer has also become a symbol for international organizations in places such as France and Denmark that oppose the death penalty. They have turned this murderer into a “political prisoner.” Alternative rock bands like Rage Against the Machine and the Beastie Boys have done benefit concerts to raise money for Mumia’s defense. Students at the University of California wear “Free Mumia” t-shirts. This culmination of politicos and personalities, regardless of their motivations, have turned Danny’s murderer into a mythic figure…”
http://www.fop.net/causes/faulkner/danny.shtml

His allegiance is obvious.

I prefer to lend my support to Faulkner’s widow, Maureen.

I applaud you and will nominate you for a Newman’s Own First Amendment Award. ;)

Did you demonstrate that C. Clark Kissinger received the award? No.

You've claimed:"I'm pretty sure that it didn't go to defend the First or Second Amendment or the Boy Scouts, but more than likely to global warming alarmists and criminal defense" The PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award is about 1A .... and you haven't looked at the judges, some of who are members of the CATO Institute... or the foundation's FORM 990...which describes why they were given resources.

You've been linking the NO Foundation to what Newman the private citizen did. Unfortunately, you're wrong for doing so, which is the only reason why I chimed in. You haven't proven that the NO Foundation gave to leftist causes. You've sourced from blogs. Whatever floats your boat. ;-D

In the end, only kindness matters.

“...You've been linking the NO Foundation to what Newman the private citizen did...”

You accuse me of linking Newman to his eponymously named organization of which he is the founder...I'll let you mull that over. The NO website states “Paul Newman and the Newman's Own Foundation have given ...”. NO links the two, not me.

“...I applaud you and will nominate you for a Newman’s Own First Amendment Award. ;)...”.

You are the soul of wit. I'll repeat this for your benefit. Newman, through his outspoken advocacy for the murderer Mumia, slanders the name of Officer Daniel Faulkner. I'll let you do the research on just how vile Mumia and his supporters are. He's guilty, so they have no choice but to fall back on the leftist standby of slandering the victim.

“...In the end, only kindness matters...”

A final thought which will close out this banal chat.

“...Murdered by Mumia: A Conversation With Maureen Faulkner...Why is Mumia’s death important to you? Would a firm declaration by the court of his guilt, coupled with a sentence of “life without parole” be acceptable to you?...Unless Mumia Abu-Jamal is executed my family and I will never have any closure and we will always live in fear that some day in the future the phone will ring and we’ll be told that he has been set free...”

Append your insipid “ ;) “ to that.
