DUBAI (Reuters) - Iraq has signed preliminary deals worth billions of dollars with General Electric Co and Siemens for equipment to almost double electricity generation capacity, an energy official said on Saturday.

The deals with GE, Siemens and a third company would be worth a total of $7 billion to $8 billion, Iraq's Electricity Minister Karim Waheed told Reuters.

Years of war, sanctions and neglect have battered Iraq's power grid and the country suffers chronic power shortages. The capital Baghdad receives only a few hours of electricity a day. The deals would mark a big step in the country's reconstruction, Waheed said.

Any other day when there is no other “crisis” going on, the MSM would be able to hammer this Iraq deal....but NOT today!

GE has been politically amoral (at best) since the days when Steinmetz was on their payroll.

A recent GE rail industry ad shows a locomotive with "historical" imagery on the side, featuring a prominent "peace symbol." They may not have conceived the ad, but they approved it. Here was the entire gamut of recorded history to choose from, and they chose crap.

I love that corporations are growing in Iraq but GE has let their subsidiary, MSNBC, rant and rave about everything they claim is wrong in Iraq then turn around and bid in Iraq.

GE is corrupt from the top down. NBC is a puppet of the corporate masters who demand quarter-over-quarter growth, so which business leader at GE is going to throw himself under the bus by turning down a valid order?

The problem is at the top.

Tell GE what you think:

This is a bad sign. Russia arming rogue nations with nukes, now, GE again, dealing with Iran.
