in China, there is still a traditional principle in place which dictates that one should be able to pay with cash for something before they really need to buy it.

Americans used to have sense enough to do the same. Unfortunately lots of Americans have convinced themselves that debt equates to wealth.

Yes, in the past many Americans were thrifty. But the social Marxists set out to corrupt and destroy the foundations of our culture. Maybe even more significant than the black racism at Obama’s “church” was the explicit attack on “middle-classness.” People were not to practice “bourgeois” virtues like saving, but to get their “community organizer” to extort wealth from other people.

A year or so ago I had a conversation with a man who told me that he and his wife had totally separate financial lives. Their only meeting point is that he pays certain expenses and she pays the others as agreed. He said this was necessary because when she gets a mailer offering her a fifteen thousand dollar credit line she considers it to be income!
