What kind of “set up” do you have in mind? That the right will jump on Obama for continuing to use the bracelet and Sgt. Jopek’s name in public events, and then the mother will suddenly emerge to say Obama still has her support and permission to do this?
The ex-husband has said she asked Obama to stop. I suppose then it could turn into a really ugly matter of “he said, she said” which the media would blame on those mean Republicans for bringing it all up in the first place?
No, I believe the set up was that the Obama campaign initiated the bracelet idea when the mother approached them at the Obama rally in WI. They wanted to have their own prop to counter McCain's. I don't believe the father is properly representing his ex-wife's position. And yes, if pressed she will deny it and say she has no problem with Obama using the bracelet.

I would let the MSM carry the water on this, but I certainly would somehow get someone to look into the issue of who initiated the bracelet request and when/where the bracelet was fabricated and who payed for it. If it were discovered that the Obama campaign had initiated this, then all hell would break loose.
