"I've got a bracelet too"(Obama doesn't know the name)

This moment may stick with Barack Obama for a while. During the debate, John McCain explained that he wanted to remain resolute for victory in Iraq for the families of the men and women who had given their all for the mission. McCain talked about a bracelet he received from the mother of Matthew Stanley to emphasize his commitment, which he has done in campaign stops for the last several months. Team Obama prepared for it, but Obama blew the delivery

...Obama clearly prepared for this moment, knowing McCain would discuss his bracelet, but in those preparations, Obama didn’t commit the soldier’s name to memory. He had to look down at his bracelet to remember the name. McCain didn’t have to do that, which made Obama look much more manipulative in his presentation. It was a “tell”, a poker term for an involuntary physical manifestation of a player’s hand.

Oh Horses-—, why don’t you read the sub-title of this thread. (Obama didn’t know the name).

McCain looked at his bracelet at least as much as Obama so to suggest that Obama had to look to get the name right as oposed to McCain is a non issue, not to mention stupid.

I wasn’t even addressing whether Obama was prepped. As such I am not suggesting otherwise.

No, McCain wasn’t looking at his bracelet to because he couldn’t remember the soldier’s name. It was what anyone would do when remembering an event, the name and circumstance rolled off of his tongue with ease. Obama was trippin’

I posted this on an earlier thread but I feel the need to say it again.

This nonchalant attitude to what the rest of us hold so dear is of a piece with Obama’s casual chucking of flowers at the 9/11 memorial and hands folded over his groin during the national anthem. They show that these things have no deep meaning for him, that he has no understanding of the core of American heritage. Seems he just can’t be bothered.

It was really a Medic Alert Bracelet: “Terminally Stupid - Do not resuscitate”.

So what, Obama stutters almost every time he has to think on his feet.

I bet he stutters when ordering his lunch or talking to Michelle.

George Bush and Ted Kennedy always seem to do the same when they speak without having a prepared statement at hand.

Michelle's probably why he stutters.

Some people think McCain looked at his wrist to get the name too even though he clearly knew it. Maybe a good optometrist could help.

Your point about Obama’s nonchalance over things patriotic rings true though. And it won’t play well in places like PA

If I WERE allowed to bring a sign to an Obama rally this is what it would say:

Lipstick - Check
Bracelet - Check
Bullsh*t - Check

From one of Rush Limbaugh's 10 best callers ever (IMHO): "Obama couldn't order a Happy Meal without a speechwriter." 9/4/08

McCain looked at his wrist, but you can tell it was not to see the name, but to in a sense point to it as he was discussing the bracelet. He looks almost like he is trying to lift up his wrist to show it, but it looks awkward because he always looks awkward when he lifts his arms a bit.

I’m wondering....

Wouldn’t a little background work—namely a passle of shirtsleeve pictures of Obama without the bracelet be helpful in making the point that the man isn’t really serious about his respect for servicemen?

Funeral services will be held Monday in Merrill for Ryan David Jopek, a sergeant with the Antigo and Merrill-based National Guard unit who was killed while serving in Iraq.

Sgt. Jopek, 20, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006 from a roadside bomb in Tikrit, Iraq. He was a member of Troop E 105th Cavalry, based in Antigo and Merrill. The unit was mobilized to Iraq on June 6, 2005 as part of the Appleton-based 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry and is scheduled to return home later this month.

Sgt. Ryan D. Jopek

Born June 1, 1986 in Alliance, Neb. he was a son of Tracy (Smith) Jopek of Merrill and Brian Jopek of Antigo. He graduated from Merrill High School in 2004.

Additional medals include Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Iraqi Campaign, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service, and the Armed Forces Reserve with "M" Device.
