McCain did well, better than I thought. He could have spanked Obama on the financial issue, pointing out it is the democrats fault, but overall he was good. Obama stuttered and sputtered, failed to directly answer a few questions, and failed to acknowledge he was wrong about the surge. Overall, in terms of what really counts (grabbing independents), McCain did better.
McCain didn’t because the RAT’s cash cow, FAnnie Mae, was off limits in order for W to get the money he needed for the WOT. That was agreed upon behind closed doors.
It was also kind of funny to see Jim Lehrer insist that Obama answer the question he asked. Seemed like even the moderator was losing patience with him.
Husband says that Obama is like Nixon in one way--he poses a different question as an answer and answers that. Lehrer didn't let him get away with that this time. Yay for him.
