“With apologies to Rick Pitino, a tax cut for “95% of Americans making less than $250,000” is not going to be walking through that door anytime soon.”

here’s what bugs me everytime I hear this stupid 95% figure.

A huge chunk of americans don’t pay!
I think it’s as high as 40%. DON’T PAY!

How is he going to “cut” for 95% when so many DON’T PAY?

And then he’s going to hit the ones who consistently pay more than their fair share even harder?

How do you get a cut from zero?

And when are republicans going to offer rebuttal to this crap?

That’s the beauty of Lehrer’s question: the GOP doesn’t have to make a rebuttal. It’s about the undecided. They are already skeptical and cynical to begin with. They often vote Democrat, but they aren’t drinking Obama’s Kool Aid, not yet anyway. And McCain rather bluntly stated there isn’t going to be any new spending. By Obama deflecting the question, it’s pretty obvious to the viewers - without a word needing to be spoken - all of Obama’s goodies are not going to be there at the end of the day. No tax cuts, no free college, no handouts, we’re not going to save the planet from global warming, we can’t afford newfangled alternative energy investments. We need cheap oil, and we need it now. That means we gotta go where it is and get it out of the ground and refine it.

So without the goodies, and Obama agreeing with McCain enough to certainly imply he isn’t Bush, tell me again why I shouldn’t vote for the more experienced McCain?

Obama lost the debate.
