Trust is really quite irrelevant at this point. An actual policy will be followed, and it will blow up and destroy half the country, or it won't.

Really, nothing else matters a tuppenny damn at this point. It is purely about getting the policy right. The voters will not forgive anyone for correctly representing their own boneheaded mistakes or financial illiteracy.

I was only speaking to the perceptions of McCain’s moves by the mushy middle. You are speaking to the reality of what is about to happen.

I think the American public is primed to the fact that pain is coming, but nobody knows what form it will take. So, who is offering leadership to try to spread the pain most equitably? That’s where the trust question comes in.
