Pakistani forces have killed up to 1,000 Islamist militants in fighting in the strategically important northwestern region of Bajaur this month, an army commander said on Friday.

Perhaps, but many times their lies have been to cover what we are really up to. The Pakistani's put on quite a bit of theater about not allowing us to operate from their side of border at the start of the Afghan operations back in '01, while at the same time allowing us to open massive forward bases.

The theater is to keep the locals (and the ISI) happy.
