Hoover was the worst Republican.

Carter must rank with the worst ever, but I am sure there are other contenders. Wilson, maybe? Not sure about possible candidates from the 19th century.

I too think you meant Hoover. Coolidge was one of the best, maybe only second to Reagan.

I DO think this whole mess is a well-orchestrated GAME being played with America’s future. I’m sure none of those a-holes in Congress are worried about the financial future of this country.

I believe you are right. This is not Bush's fault, he is between a rock and a hard place in the bailout. This is a mess created by Socialist Democrats in Congress, Obama's boys, and was created to try and tilt the election in Obamas favor.

Bob Novak provides some choice bits about Paulson at:

http://townhall.com/columnists/RobertDNovak/2007/10/01/hank_paulsons_dna

” . . .Eyebrows at the Treasury were raised last Tuesday when Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. named a major Democratic fundraiser to an important advisory role. On the next day, eyebrows were still elevated when Under Secretary Robert K. Steel participated in an event spearheaded by Bill Clinton’s two Treasury secretaries.

A longtime Republican office holder now in the Bush administration noted these developments and e-mailed a fellow Republican outside the government: “This leads some to wonder whether this Treasury has become the pre-placed Hillary Clinton team.” If she is elected president, it is presumed Sen. Clinton will want her own Treasury team. But she cannot be too unhappy with George W. Bush’s current lineup there.”

* * *

” . . . the former Goldman Sachs CEO does not act or sound much like a conservative Republican to the GOP remnant at the Treasury. “It’s not in Hank Paulson’s DNA,” one official told me. Is he loyal to Bush? “Hank is for Hank,” he replied.”

* * *

“Although Paulson was a generous Republican contributor and prodigious Bush fundraiser (over $100,000) in the 2004 cycle, his earlier political giving was more varied. He contributed to Bill Clinton in 1992, Democrat Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential campaign, the feminist Emily’s List and Wall Street’s favorite Democrat, Chuck Schumer. Most of the Paulson family’s Democratic contributions come from the secretary’s wife, Wendy, who has supported Hillary Clinton.”

Is is it any wonder that Paulson and Bush are unable to sell the bailout plan to House Republican conservatives?

Rush Limbaugh keeps repeating the Obama was given a talking points memo to use for that contentious meeting yesterday that Bush called with -- the memo came from a Goldman Sachs employer who is an active Democrat and works closely with Paulson (or something like that -- I may have misremembered the details a little.)

I would rank GW Bush as the WORST president in US history, certainly the worst the Republican Party ever had to put forward.

Balderdash.

I understand that you're upset at this mess, but he's nowhere near the worst.
