I finally found premium after two attempts yesterday and down to only one work day’s worth of travel (only 13 miles one way). Premium is scarcer than’s hen’s teeth.

From Alpharetta to Norcross I see maybe one station open on any given day. And the line is out the wazoo. Of course, when I did find gas, some soccer mom next to me proceeded to fill her car and then pull four 5 gallon cans out of the trunk.

I can make until maybe next Thursday with no driving this weekend. After that, who knows.

My son’s car prefers premium, and while finding it has caused him to vary his routine (he’s an inside-the-perimeter kinda guy) he has not ever been unable to find gas. He has indeed observed outages and lines. But he has always gotten gas. He lives in Cobb (barely) and commutes to Fulton/downtown.

Which is precisely why the prices should be allowed to go up. Is there some anti price gouging legislation there or some price control government stuff happening? What is the price per gallon?

I am not understanding this gas crunch. I live in Kansas City we have no problems. Actually last night gas fell by 5 cents a gallon at most stores you can find it as low as 3.20 a gallon, there are no lines no shortages and not outages. I am not quite understanding why that area is having such a problem.

Any modern vehicle that specifies premium will run fine and cause no damage whatsoever to the engine on regular gas. The onboard computer adjusts the timing for whatever the octane of the gas is.

I had a 2002 Buick with a supercharged engine that I bought new and drove almost 100,000 miles. The service manager at Buick told me I could run it on regular with no problem, and I never ever put one drop of premium in it, and it ran like a scalded cat and always very smooth, and got good mileage too, and still did when I sold it.

The bottom line: as long as your engine is not pinging when you run it on regular, you are NOT doing any damage whatsoever to it.
