( Wild Force Rangers ) Group seeks to expand regional habitat for wolves

Officials with Wild Earth Guardians filed a petition Tuesday under the Endangered Species Act and the Administrative Procedure Act asking the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to develop a recovery plan for wolves in the Southern Rocky Mountains.

At the same time, Catron County commissioners in New Mexico are calling for the removal of a non-collared wolf causing predation against domestic pets and livestock in their area.

The expansive region WildEarth Guardians seeks to open to wolves includes much of western Colorado, northern New Mexico and south-central Wyoming.

On the other side of the wolf debate, Catron County commissioners in Reserve, N.M., issued their third "Notice of Finding of Imminent Danger and Demand for Removal" of a Mexican gray wolf.

"We have been receiving complaints for years from a Cruzville mother of four youngsters," ... "Her children have seen wolves attack and kill too many pets in front of their eyes."

The children range from four to 12 years old. Their mother has been filing complaints for four years about wolf predation on the family pets, her horse and her poultry flock.

"My chickens and turkeys have been picked off one by one," the woman said. "I've lost more than 150 so far. My horse was attacked.

And worst of all, my children have grown up watching their beloved pets killed right in front them. We all live in constant fear."

A veterinary bill for a horse that tried to defend itself against a wolf was extensive, and the horse was permanently damaged, the woman said. The woman now will not allow her four children to play outside unsupervised...

She has installed security doors in her house and keeps them locked.

Wild Force Rangers are granted mystical powers and charged to protect the Earth from pollution-created creatures called Orgs.

They defend the fictional city of Turtle Cove, and are stationed aboard a flying island called the Animarium. Their mentor is Princess Shayla, and her mentor is Animus (who is an ancient Megazord). The Rangers represent the Ancient Animarium Warriors who also fought to destroy the Orgs and save the Earth.

The Rangers morph using devices known as Growl Phones (which have three operating modes: normal, human-form, and Power Animal Mode that resembles an animal). Each Ranger is also armed with a Crystal Saber (into which an Animal Crystal is inserted to call a Wild Zord).

There are hidden contradictions in the minds of
people who “love Nature” while deploring the “artificialities” with which “Man has spoiled ‘Nature.’ “
The obvious contradiction lies in their choice
of words, which imply that Man and his artifacts
are not part of “Nature”, but beavers and their
dams are.
But the contradictions go deeper than this
prima-facie absurdity.
In declaring his love for a beaver dam (erected
by beavers for beavers’ purposes) and his hatred
for dams erected by men (for the purposes of men)
the “Naturist” reveals his hatred for his own race,
i.e. his own self-hatred.
In the case,of “Naturists” such self-hatred is
understandable; they are such a sorry lot.
But hatred is too strong an emotion to feel toward
them; pity and contempt are the most they rate.
As for me, willy-nilly I am a man, not a beaver and
H. sapiens is the only race I have or can have.
Fortunately for me, I like being part of a race made
up of men and women, it strikes me as a fine
arrangement and perfectly “natural.”

ending the double bag limits, so hunters could only kill one cougar per year.

ending the year-round hunting season on private lands and in bighorn sheep areas.

The New Mexico Game Commission meets to consider the Department’s recommendations on Oct. 2.

Surely the headquarters of Wild Force Rangers is Washington DC, they control both the Senate and House.

Some time back a Conservation agent was telling a few of us they wanted to reintroduce the cougar and bear to the north of here.

Which prompted my father to point out the obvious that this fellow seemed to have forgot: any animal that is a threat to you, your family or your livelihood found on your land can be killed. Then he pointed out that it is reasonable to expect that a bear or cougar might be a threat to livestock right? Since the law does not state you have to prove the animal is a threat you then don’t have any restrictions on how many or what you kill as long as you BELIEVE the animal posed a threat.

(ie. cue the “It’s coming right at me!”)

Then he proceeded to inform the baffled agent that if indeed they did this to expect every land owner in the area to kill on sight any of his “reintroduced” pets.

As far as I know, the project never went into practice and we are bear and cougar free for the time being.

Note: not that I have anything against these animals. I personally like them. Just trying to point out that because an animal roamed a certain area once upon a time long ago does not mean that it should stand to reason to reintroduce that animal.
